Does Outdoor Bug Control work against all bugs?

Outdoor Bug Control is third-party tested for fleas, ticks, mosquitoes, ants, mites, chiggers, Japanese beetles, roaches, wasps, and scorpions. However, our products have been popular for a larger range of pests for over 20 years.

How often should I apply?

For your first application each year, apply twice two weeks apart. Then just monthly after that. Repeat applications until freezing temps return.

Is it safe to use around pets and children?

Absolutely! Outdoor Bug Control is non-toxic, family-safe, and pet-friendly when used as directed. No downtime is required—people and pets can re-enter the lawn immediately after application.

Is it safe for pollinators like bees or butterflies?

Yes, Outdoor Bug Control will not deter bees or butterflies. For optimal results, follow the instructions, use as directed, and apply in the morning or evening when pollinators are less active.

Is Outdoor Bug Control the same thing as PCO Choice?

It sure is! We recently updated the name of PCO Choice to Outdoor Bug Control but it’s the same great lawn spray.

What’s the difference between the cedarwood and lemongrass options?

Both are equally effective at controlling unwanted bugs, so it all depends on your scent preference. Cedarwood is classic and earthy (think cedar closet or chest) and lemongrass is brighter and more citrus-like.

How long do Cedarcide products last?

As long as you store them in a cool, dry place out of sunlight and freezing temps, they should last approx. 2 years before slowly losing effectiveness. They never go bad or become harmful, they simply lose potency after 2 years.

Instructions

Insert the straw into the hose-end sprayer lid and attach the lid to the hose. Set dial to OFF.

Pour 4 oz. Cedarcide Outdoor Bug Control into the hose-end sprayer reservoir and add 22 oz. warm water. Attach the reservoir to the lid and shake well.

Turn your hose to full pressure and switch the dial to ON. Spray your lawn and other vegetation using slow, even strokes (1 reservoir treats approx. 5,000 sq. ft. before emptying).

If this is your first application, repeat again in two weeks. Then, apply monthly or more often as needed. For best results, apply in the morning or evening.

If rain is expected in the next 24-48 hours, wait to apply Outdoor Bug Control until the weather has passed and the soil is mostly dry. Re-application after heavy rain may be necessary.

Safe for my pets!

I have pets and don't give them oral flea & tick prevention because it has bad side effects, can lead to death. I spray they yard and use granules. We never have fleas or ticks. Great product that works!

Worked for ants

This product greatly reduced the number of ant piles we had in our backyard by spraying every six to eight weeks. It also reduced the number of mosquitos some.

BEST Product on the market - Period !

I have ordered and used Cedarcide products on my yard, trees, and on my dogs and me for over 20 years.
My dogs have never had fleas or ticks !

't have problems with other pests - ie. "ants or crawly things" spray the foundation and preserve my cedar fencing with their preservative product! I even use it to refresh my natural ceder mulch by applying PCO to it. Hardly get chewed to pieces by no-seems or skeeters either !

PCO Outdoor

Been using the outdoor and indoor/personal Cedarcide for about 10 years. It has been almost 100% effective on ticks and I have never seen fleas so either we don't have them or it works on those perfectly as well. Very happy with this product.

Q: Is it normal for the ants in my lawn to increase dramatically after the first application?

Thanks for reaching out. Whether it's our product or a heavy chemical one, it's quite normal, especially with ants, to notice what seems like a big uptick in activity in the days after applying.

This is simply because the application has agitated the population, and they're having to move around to new areas in order to survive. Once you apply again in two weeks (and move onto monthly after that), you should see this trend dissipate quickly. Just make sure you're spraying your entire lawn, shrubs, all ant mounds, and mulch beds to remove any potential hiding spots.

We have many customers who use non-toxic, plant-safe Outdoor Bug Control throughout their gardens, including those with lavender.

Our lawn sprays are not known to harm or damage plants, however if you're concerned about sensitivity or if the plant seems especially vulnerable for some reason, I would suggest testing on a small area first, as when introducing any new product to your garden :)

Q: Why is the concentration so much lower when using a backpack sprayer? Will 1 gallon of Outdoor Bug Control work for more than 4 acres if I use a backpack sprayer? I have about 6 acres that need serious tick treatment and am hoping to cut down on the cost as much as possible!

Backpack sprayers and other commercial-style equipment simply tend to be more efficient, and so often less product can be used to get the most use of out each bottle.

While each situation is different, I do believe you would get more than expected coverage (over 4 acres) using a gallon of OBC in a backpack sprayer.
