FAQ

How do Cedar Granules work?

Our cedar granules naturally repel bugs by interfering with their pheromones, chemicals they use to navigate, mate, search for food, and regulate bodily functions.

What types of bugs are Cedar Granules effective against?

Cedarcide Granules are made from 100% natural cedarwood shavings, which are known to control a wide range of unwanted bugs. We currently have third-party testing for fleas, ants, mosquitoes, mites, and chiggers.

How often do I need to reapply?

For best results, reapply every 4-6 weeks, or more often as needed after flooding rains.

Are they safe to use around pets and children?

They sure are! Our granules are made from 100% natural cedar shavings and are sourced from trees never touched by synthetic pesticides or fertilizers.

Can they be used indoors, too?

Just like a cedar chest or closet, our cedar granules can also be used inside to control unwanted bugs. Popular ways include filling sachets or stockings with the granules and hanging them in closets, or using them in indoor houseplant pots.

Are Cedar Granules planet-friendly and biodegradable?

Yes! In addition to being family and pet-safe, Cedar granules are eco-friendly and naturally biodegrade over time. You can feel good about using these all year round.

Instructions

Spread granules throughout your lawn, including gardens, planters, around patios and decks, and along fences, foundations, garages and outbuildings. Reapply every 4–6 weeks.

For best results, use granules with Cedarcide Outdoor Bug Control Lawn Spray.

Granules and original spray

"Had a problem with ants. Nothing worked. Decided to purchase your granules and original spray. Spread the granules over the yard and along the foundation of the house. Ants have disappeared! Will be using the spray on my dog to keep fleas away. Absolutely love the smell. It's not overwhelming. Definitely will be ordering more products in the future."

Love the stuff but. . . . .

"Hello Cedarcide people. . . and Grace. I love the stuff. Problem is, after shipping/FedEx charge, and exchange rate, one bag cost me $118. 34. I would love to order more but not for this cost. Please consider a Canadian outlet!"

Elvis H. (5/5)

Great product!

"Starting using around the perimeter of our back yard and had already seen great results. Have not seen any ticks on our 5 dogs or potbellied pig since!"

Heather S. (5/5)

Cedarcide is awesome

"We live in the country and to stop snakes and bugs from congregaying around the house we spread a barrier of cedarcide, spray cedarcide about a foot up the house. We also spread cedarcide granules in our landscaping bark to keep bugs and snails out. It is safe for pets and kids. Highly recommend"

Brenda P. (5/5)

LOVE THIS STUFF!

"I put Cedarcide granular around my backyard, in the yard, along the fence line, foundation, in my potted plants, around the air conditioner unit. . . . and let me tell you. . . we sat outside to eat dinner tonight and not one single fly, mosquito or any other bug was spotted the entire time we sat on the patio! I am telling all my friends about this! 5 stars from me!!!"

Really works

"I have a senior dog with a lot of allergies to bug bites. I’ve been using Cedarcide granules in my backyard first once a week, then work to once a month. My dog has never had fleas. I also use the Original spray on my wood and linoleum floors inside and it keeps inside bugs away too. The house then has a slight cedar scent but it goes away quickly. One time a friend wanted to do my floors and used cedar polish from the hardware store. I was almost gagging from the fake scent. These products are the real deal. This company is amazing."

Good Product. Good Results.

"Bought this to deal with mosquitos in my own yard. So impressed I sent bags to my cousin who is a ferrier, for his stable and horses. . . . . ."

CS S. (5/5)

Love!

"I have be been looking for something new to control the variety of pests on our yard - this stuff is great! Last year I used a company that was tea tree + cedar (not as effective). The combo of the cedar outdoor spray + the granules, not only smells great, but has worked great so far!"

Q&A

When is the best time to apply? Before or after a rain? After a grass cute? Or does it not matter.
Brenda, I would apply with no rain in the forecast for about 24 hours. So long as they are not washed off your lawn, rain will not negatively impact them. Then simply reapply every 4-6 weeks and combine with our lawn spray, Outdoor Bug Control, for best results. As for mowing, so long as you're not bagging the clippings, no problem there either :) We're also available at 800-842-1464 if you need anything else or have more questions, Brenda!
can my puppy be out when I'm spreading the granules on my yard?
Absolutely, Rick. The granules are simply 100% natural non-toxic cedarwood :) We're also available at 800-842-1464 or questions@cedarcide.com if you need anything else!
I have an all rok yard. Can I spread the granules as well as using the spray? We always use the spray but I’d like to add in the granules.
You sure can, Kim! I have only rock myself and use both products for improved results too :) We're also available at 800-842-1464 if you need anything else or have more questions, Kim!
If applying in a garden bed is it best to apply before or after mulching?
I would certainly apply after mulching, Kim. Mulch is among the biggest bug attractants in our lawns so hitting them with our lawn spray and granules will be a big help :)
How many bags would I need to buy to cover an acre?
Hi, Lisa! Each bag covers approx. 3,500 sq. ft. so for cost effectiveness for that size of area, I would use our concentrate, Outdoor Bug Control (each quart treats 1 full acre) to treat most of the space, and then use our granules for extra repellency help throughout troublespots or where you, your pets and family spend the most time :) We're also available at 800-842-1464 if you need anything else or have more questions.
